Clock + sky sync problem in Win 10?

Asked by Paul Fleming

Hi,

Love Stellarium.

Just a heads up to say that it didn't work properly as part of a clean install of Win 10 on a new hard drive.

Have a photo to show that the clock is correct and reads 15:45, but the early morning sky is displayed, so the star positions are about 6 hours behind.

Could guess at source of problem, but prefer not to.

Cheers,

PaulF

Hi Alex,

You were right! Just the kind of mixup you get on a box that runs in multiple languages. It's happened before.

The time on my Win10 box was correct, as was the locale setting in Stellarium, Toronto, but the time zone in Date & Time must have flipped over to France during the Stellarium install. (Never such a problem with Win7.)

Why? Windows and software regularly doesn't distinguish between Canadian & France French.

My Win10 runs in Canadian French and software mostly in French because there's only a single option for the language. My keyboard is Canadian French, so QWERTY instead of AZERTY.

Situations come up that are comical after the fact. An installer set my new Win7 keyboard to France once instead of to Canada, and I was locked out until it dawned on me that the keyboard mappings were wrong.

Appreciate your help.

Paul
