Can't get Oculars plugin to work correctly with DSLR

Asked by Leandro

Hi,

I've been trying to configure the Oculars plugin with my DSLR and lenses, but I haven't been able to make it work as it should.

I added a full frame sensor (Canon 6D) and also a Canon crop sensor (Canon 450D) to "Sensors". Then added some lenses to "Telescopes" (14mm and 24mm). Then tested with a 14mm and both sensors. I compared with an old picture of mine and noticed the rectangle is way off. The full frame is nowhere near the real focal length (looks almost like a 180° fisheye), but the weird thing is that the crop sensor looks like what the full frame should look.

Here is my ocular.ini: http://pastebin.com/dMGcULXv
And here are some pictures so you can better understand what I mean: http://imgur.com/a/FB7xH

I'm sure I'm doing something wrong. Any ideas?

Thanks!

The current and previous versions of Stellarium Ocular plugin use a formula which gives an approximation of the size of fov. This approximation is accurate for long focal length lenses like telescopes, but is not suitable for wide angle lenses. Next version uses an accurate formula. See: http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~stellarium/stellarium/trunk/revision/7732
You can download a test version of the next release here: https://launchpad.net/stellarium/+download

I did a clean install of version 0.14.0 (stellarium-0.13.70.1-win64.exe) and now it's better. Still not perfectly accurate but it's very close.

I also noticed the rectangle seems to change its size when zooming out.
Sorry for the double post, I can't edit my previous one.

Can you help with this problem?
