I get a white screen when starting Stellarium. I'm running Linux Mint 17.2.

Asked by mhampton

I just installed Stellarium on my desktop PC running Linux Mint 17.2. When the program starts, I get a white screen with nothing identifiable except the menus. If I click around on the screen, I will by coincidence hit something and the description will pop up on the screen. How do I get a black sky and white stars (and other appropriately colored items) on my monitor?

Seems your hardware is not in requirements list of minimal parameters. In any case I'm not telepath and I can't see Stellarium's log on your computer (it contains data about problems when Stellarium starts).

Looks like I will need to either get a new graphics card or abandon Stellarium and just use one of the star mapping packages on my smart phone. Thanks.
