Thr Moon not showing since 12.4

Asked by MDV

Hi
Since [I think] version 12.4 The Moon is not showing any-more.

This happened 1 or 2 years ago!

I had not used it for a long time, then I went to use it and updated it with version 13 something.

I did not check the moon, but I 'do know' it was working with older version [on windows 7 64 bit].

I Always used it since about 5 years ago on the same computer [Sony VGN-FW41M/H] with Graphics ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4650.

Any games works fine but Stellarium - I mentioned games because they are notorious to require High Graphics specifications.

Pleas also note I did not change anything on the system.ini file, with the exception of something [possibly added comets] but ONLY after it was 'already' having this problem.

It is so annoying now that I am using it far more not to be able to see or check the Moon.

This is The Moon data within system.ini:

[moon]
name=Moon
parent=Earth
radius=1737.4
halo=false
color=1.0, 0.98, 0.96
tex_map=moon.png
tex_halo=NULL
coord_func=lunar_special
lighting=true
albedo=0.12
rot_periode=655.7198811
rot_rotation_offset=38
rot_obliquity=23.45
rot_equator_ascending_node=0
landscape=moon
orbit_visualization_period=27.321582
type=moon

I checked its png and it is fine.

I have read somewhere you changed the way the graphics shows it, but why only The Moon?

I can see anything else.

On a far older Laptop I can see it!
Strangely I tried older version of Stellarium and it does not show it!

The Graphics are all updated to the latest drivers.
I am no expert, but is it anything to do with Catalyst, which I also tried various versions - just in case?

Thanks

Regards
Mauro

PST also using Ubuntu on the older Laptop works - I have XP and Ubuntu on it and both are fine - i.e The Moon shows.

I solved it!

I uninstalled the latest one [I saved old ssystem files just in case].

Installed 12.4 64 bit - still the same!
Uninstalled it.

Installed 12.1 32 bit and The Moon was 'almost working - so, I thought too old version.
Unistalled it.

Installed 13.3 64bit and removed all settings or almost all.

It finally works again!

I guess for the last year or so I had possibly old-corrupted files _ believe the 'remove' of previous files when installing, has worked.

Strange!
