How to view multiple moon orbits of a planet?

Asked by Chris

I have found that pressing "o" on a selected moon will show the orbit of a planet's moon. But, how do I view all the moons' orbits at once? Seems like if you press "o" again on a different moon, the first moon's orbit goes away. For instance, I'd like to see all the orbits of Jupiter's Galilean moons at once. Thanks.

You can select Sun for showing orbits of all bodies in Solar system.

Where do you select "sun" ? Is that in a specific menu?

To select any object you click on it.

Orbits are drawn for the selected object and all its "children", i.e. it should be enough to select Jupiter to draw its and its moons' orbit.

Hmm...mine isn't working like that. The version is 0.13.3, by the way.

When I select Jupiter and zoom in, I only see it's orbit, not its moons. When I select a moon like Europa, it then shows only Europa's orbit. I'd like to see them all at once. In other words, when I click on a moon, I do see it's orbit but then when I click on another moon, the previous moon's orbit disappears.

Georg, it's not a correct, because current implementation has this behaviour only for the Sun.

I can implement both behaviours for the planet selection - with isolated orbits for selected celestial body only and with orbits of "hierarchical group" (parent and all their childrens) of the celestial body. It's an easy.

OK, both behaviours will be available in next beta version of Stellarium.

Oops, I was pretty sure I had seen this before? I had no working system when I wrote this, sorry.

Can you help with this problem?
