GPS location

I seem to be unable to paste in GPS coordinates and unable to manually enter them. For instance, if I past "38.7436" it becomes 38d 44' 36" when I tab out of the field. Attempting to overwrite the coordinate in question only allows for a single digit entry.

Well, you pasted in 38.74... which is somewhat less than 38°45', so you are describing the feature that automatically converts decimal degrees to the traditional arcmin/arcsec style. I am not aware of a preference setting to display or edit decimal degrees here, although you can successfully enter them.
