Inaccuracy using Telescope Control

Asked by Matt

Hi, i use Stellarium with my Celestron 130 SLT through a serial to usb adapter connected from the nexstar + hand controller to my computer, and i can use the Telescope Control plugin to send slew commands to my telescope just fine, but there seems to be a lack of synchronization between stellarium and the telescope. I do an alignment on my telescope and slew to say Betelgeuse and i can see it in my telescope, but when i go into Stellarium and connect my telescope it shows it as near Betelgeuse, but definitely not on it, so when i select Betelgeuse on stellarium and hit ctrl+1 it slews and on Stellarium it shows my telescope as on Betelgeuse, but when i look into my telescope i can't see it. Is this normal? if so i'd say it makes it completely useless. If not, how can i fix this?

IMHO Telescope Control Plugin never support synchronization with mounts.

Are your location coordinates OK? (Both in Stellarium and your telescope controller.)
Is your telescope really set up properly, e.g. does its own GOTO find objects? The telescope must be well-aligned in advance.

Yes. As i said, i align my telescope and it works beautifully. Even when it's plugged into my computer and connected to Stellarium the GOTO on the telescope works fine. It just doesn't work through Stellarium, it's always slightly off, but far off enough for it to not be in the FOV

Are you using JNow or J2000 epoch for coordinates? How big error you got?

Can you help with this problem?
