Adding telescope/eyepieces for ocular view

Asked by Stan Delducco

I want to use the ocular view to help buy a long FL eyepiece. I do not have a C1400 telescope. I am not sure of the specs of my Celestron XT8 (I just bought it). Since I could not find the method to add telescopes or eypieces, I do not know what specifications I need. I searched the User's Guide for "focal" and "ocular". Neither word was found. Seems strange that there is no reference to this option.

A C8 is known to have 8 inches (about 200mm) of diameter and, at f/10, 80 inches (about 2000mm) of focal length.
On the telescope tab of the ocular plugin config dialog you find everything. How much of a manual do you need here?

Thanks for the prompt response. I now know that the PDF (printed version) is way out-of-date, I common problem with software documentation. It has no information about the "Information", "Scripts", "Plug-ins" tabs. I will now use the on-line guide instead. Searching will be tougher.

The "left-hand menu -> Configuration window -> Plugins -> Oculars -> configure" roadmap is easy enough.

The "Oculars plugin configuration" on the "Ocular view" menu is more shorter.

I usually associate plug-ins as external data/software loaded from external sources. I guess hand entered information is close enough.

Is this really enough info for a "User's Guide":

The Plugins tab. Plug ins need to be enabled at start up to be available as shown on the bar. This allows for the selection of the plugins that you wish to be enabled at this time:

This is the same amount of detail as the "Starlore" tab under View.

I did find the "ocular plugin config" dialog. A couple of sentences in the User Guide is probably all that is needed.
