telescope connected but ctrl +1 not working?

I am using the latest version of the Stellarium software (0.12.4). I connected my Meade DS-2114 to my PC and followed the instructions. The software says the computer is connected but when I press CTRL +1 the telescope does not move to the target. I can see my telescope "target icon" on the screen but it is not aligned with my "actual" telescope at all. My telescope is aligned with the stars but the computer icon on the screen is not. My scope is on Polaris but the computer icon is just pointing to the west on no particular target. I do not have control of the scope from the Stellarium software, but I can direct the scope using the handheld controller. Can you tell me what is wrong?

Also, I tried using my MacBook Pro but could not get the computer to connect. Can you provide instructions on how to connect to a Mac because I would much rather use the Apple version. Thanks!
