Stellarium not usable with Teamwiewer/ Anyplace remote software

Asked by Robert Yearley

Stellarium is not usable from a remote location using Teamviewer or Anyplace control programs. However, I have determined that my Starrynight Pro will work fine with these two remote control programs.

System Specs

Host: Acer laptop with Intell i5 CPU, NVIDIA graphics card Open GL capable, OS win 7 home edition connected by LAN to my client

Client: EVGA desktop gaming computer with Intel i7 NVIDIA graphics card Open GL compatable OS win 7 professional.

Has anyone been able to remotely control Stellarium in this manner?

Are there other remote control programs than these that have worked successfully?

I'm checked Stellarium remote control via TeamViewer - it's work fine for me on Intel GPU. I think you don't have installed drivers from nvidia.com on yours computers.

Host: Graphics card is NVIDIA GeForce GT 630m latest driver installed.

Client: Graphic Card is NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti latest drivers installed.

Alexander stated that incorrect drivers for graphic cards were missing. I am at a loss as what drivers are being referred to.

Problem still unresolved

Additional insight into problem that I hope might help.

Using AnyPlace conrol not teamviewer as Anyplace allows me to turn on my host computer remotely.

AnyPlace is usable for all my programs except Stellarium;

1. Start Stellarium
2. get black screen
3. Cannot exit Stellaeium
4. Use AnyPlace Ctrl-Alt-del command
5. The task Mgr shows up superimposed over Stellarium
6. Delete Task Mgr.
7. Stellarium remains but is non-functional
8. must use Ctrl-Alt-Del to exit Stellarium.
9. Laptop screen returns and is still usable for any of by other programs
10. Have Starry Night Pro and it does not cause the problem Stellarium does.

Added Note: TeamViewer produces the same problem.

The Acer laptop with the NVIDIA card also has an in Intel(R) integrated graphics module on the mother board. I forced Stellarium to use the Intel(R) integrated graphics when loading Stellarium and all was fine. no idea why there should be a difference between using the NVIDIA graphics card and Intel(R) integrated graphics. Will default Acer laptop (host to always use Intel(R) integrated graphics.
