Stellarium displays /usr/bin/vlc %U" and doesn't save configuration

Asked by jimwg

Greetings:

I'm running Stellarium 11.3 on Ubuntu 12.10. I recently ran a drive with Stellarium and though it saves location defaults it doesn't retain other configurations, on the bottom bar especially, and whenever I log out it displays a box reading 'Failed to execute child process "/usr/bin/vlc" (No such file or directory)" ' I assume this is a configuration setting folder that isn't there? Any hint how to fix it?

Thanks and keep up the great work on a splendid program!

You can try use --config-file flag for Stellarium: http://www.stellarium.org/wiki/index.php/Advanced_Use#Command_Line_Options

The call for /usr/bin/vlc isn't caused by Stellarium, as Stellarium has nothing to do with the VLC player.

Understood, Bogdan, but then why does Stella keep invoking it on shutdown?
