ARP NUMBERS IN STELLARIUM

Asked by BILL PICKARD

I have found several of Arp's Peculiar Galaxies by using the search feature. They are annotated using a synonym. e.g. search Arp 192, result NGC 3303. I would like to know how many of Arp's 338 galaxies are in the Stellarium database?
thank you
Bill Pickard

For search Arp galaxies Stellarium used SIMBAD.

To paraphrase Alex Wolf's answer, the galaxy catalog numbers are not in Stellarium's database. When you search for "Arp 192", you are querying the SIMBAD online database, and it returns the NGC number. Unlike the searches in Stellarium's own database, SIMBAD searches return only a pair of coordinates. And this is why when you follow the search result, the view centers on those coordinates without selecting an object.
