NO SKY ON SCREEN

Asked by Doug Rennie

I JUST DOWNLOADED STELLARIUM ON A WINDOWS 8 LAPTOP. EVERYTHING SEEMED FINE, BUT ONCE I CHANGED THE LOCATION FROM PARIS TO PORTLAND, OREGON, THERE IS NO SKY ON MY COMPUTER SCREEN, ONLY A SOLID GLOWING GREEN BACKGROUND. ALL THE WINDOWNS (LOCATION, TIME, CONFIGURATION, ETC) OPEN UP FINE, BUT I CANNOT GET ANY NIGHT SKY PANORAMA ON MY SCREEN. IT'S EMPTY/BLANK AND SOLID GREEN.

IS THERE SOME BUTTON I NEED TO PUSH, OR SOMETHING TO CLICK ON?

THE SKY WAS THERE FINE ONCE THE DOWNLOAD WAS FINISHED AND THE PROGRAM OPENED UP, BUT NOW IT HAS VANISHED AND I CANNOT FIGURE OUT HOW TO GET THE SKY BACK ON.

HELP ME OUT HERE. PLEASE.

THANKS

Thank you, Khalid, but the atmosphere was already turned off. So this isn't the issue.

Should I just delete the entire program and reinstall it, since it worked initially?

No, it's the same question, i.e. I have no sky on my screen, and what do I need to do to get the sky on the screen. Since the solution of pressing the A key did not work, I was just wondering if possibly there was no solution other than deleting and reinstalling.

If you answer the notification e-mails, please have in mind that this will post your answers to the original question at Launchpad. :)

Can you try selecting another location to see if the problem persists?
Can you also try zooming out to see if the green background is limited to a particular area? There used to be a bug where the landscape wouldn't be rendered, resulting in a green "wall" around the horizon.
You can also try running Stellarium from the "no OpenGL2" / "fallback mode" shortcut in the Start menu (or whatever Windows 8 uses).

Can you help with this problem?
