some satellites have invalid orbits

Hi all,
I see some satellites have invalid orbits. Also trying to update the lists gets me this :-

So either I did something wrong or dunno what when trying to update them.

For invalid orbits, it means very out of date TLE, system date and time out of a reasonable range, or orbital degradation and re-entry of a satellite. For example, METEOR 1-1 is an old Russian satellite launched in 1969 which deorbited and fell on march 2012.

The "Could not update .." message means that the satellite does not have an entry in the url list. For example, NCUBE-2 is in http://www.celestrak.com/NORAD/elements/cubesat.txt

There could be other reasons.

So I think these messages are normal.

@Khalid AlAjaji (kajaji) thanx for those hints. Are there any more satellite links that could be added to the sources ? Have added the cubestat one now.

Actually seems I should just add the ones from http://www.celestrak.com/NORAD/elements/ to get all of them (it seems.)

For the ones which are like METEOR-1 guess in the next version of the program they will not be there.

Also note for self, to update stuff manually , go to configuation window (by pressing F2) .

Then go to Plugins tab
Choose Satellites and click Configure button
In Settings Click on Update Now
Make sure TLE Lists can be updated.

Also to download extra star catalogs do the same thing :-

a. Go to Configuration window (by pressing F2).
b. Now go to Tools Tab
c. Star Catalog updates - click on the update button
d. The Catalogs are downloaded at ~/.stellarium/stars/default

when starting stellarium, it will check the md5sum hashcheck and if good will load the catalog.

Also for having perspective go to Sky & Viewing Options (F4)
then go to Markings
At projection click on Perspective (for flatishness and having horizon in a straight line.)

That works.
