finding moon takes to the ground

Asked by Shirish Agarwal

trying to find moon, mars, jupiter etc. takes the view to the ground (even though it's nightime.) I used CTRL+F to search for the object and entered the english name. What could I be doing wrong ?

Which language you set for Stellarium GUI?

I didn't set any language, thought it used the default 'English' . Where and how do you set it ?

Wait, troubles in the ground, not in search?

Used F2 to see the configuration window and saw that the language is set to English in Main where there are 'Main, Navigation, Tools, Scripts, Plugin' tabs .

Alexander,
No trouble in the ground (landscape). The trouble is, whenever I click Search and enter the term 'Moon' or 'Mars' or 'Jupiter' instead of taking me in the sky somewhere, it takes me to some place on ground. It either means these objects are not available in the sky or dunno what.

I'm using Indapur, India as the location and time as 23:24 which is the system time at my end.

This is in stellarium 0.11.3

Mars, Jupiter and Moon are under horizon for your location and time.

Ah, ok that explains it. Shouldn't there be some sort of statement or something stating that or something ?

No. Search tool just select object. You can turn off landscape.

Another thing though, is there a way to turn off landscape permanently ? Because each time I have to manually turn it off .
