Enable Compass Marks by default

Asked by Leif Rudd

Running Stellarium 0.11.3 on Win7/64.

I would like to have Compass Marks visible at program startup, rather than having to click the icon. Possible? When I exit the program (with Compass Marks turned on) it does not save that status.

Thanks

It is not possible. There is no option in the config.ini to have the compass marks on or off. The options available are the font size and color of marks.

I would be possible to add such a feature. I have been reluctant to do so in the past because compassmarks is a plugin, and it's not entirely clear how startup plugin settings should work with the core startup settings. Need to have a think about it.

I added an option enable_at_startup, which is now in the development code, and should be available in the next release. At present, the only way to enable this is to edit the config.ini file.

Matthew, why true is default value?

Matthew, this is great! Thanks for having a look at this. I think that users should respond well to this. It's the first thing I do every night when I fire it up, so having this .ini-configurable is superb. Is there a compiled version up somewhere? I don't currently have a compiler installed and configured.

Thanks!

Hi. Win7/64. I also have it installed on a laptop running XP/32, but I primarily use it on the 7 machine. Thanks again... great program.
