0.11.3 Slow frame rate with Windows 8 Consumer Preview

Asked by Joe Fittes

I have just recently changed from Windows 7 to a Windows 8 Consumer Preview 32bit operating system and my Stellarium is running at a very slow frame rate (0.9-2FPS). I have always used an ATI RADEON HD 4300-4500 and I had this latest version of Stellarium working absolutely fine... on Windows 7. As soon as I had completed the installation of the new operating system, I reinstalled all the programmes and completed by checking I had the most up-to-date drivers, including for the ATI RADEON HD 4300-4500. However, as I mentioned it barely runs. I have discovered that if I reduce my screen resolution from the recommended resolution down to 1024x768, I get a slight improvement to maybe 4FPS. However, I had it running at around 35-40FPS before this installation of the Windows 8 Consumer Preview.... Can anybody please help? I found this exact problem by searching on Google, however can anyone elaborate on this or better still send me a link for the correct driver (IF this is the problem!).... http://sourceforge.net/projects/stellarium/forums/forum/278769/topic/5100616
 Much appreciated!
