The Stellarium download seemed normal, but when I try to run it, I get a black screen followed by the error message below.

Asked by Richard S. Chabot on 2012-04-24

Computer is a Samsung Windows 7, 64 bit i-3 processor notebook.

After clicking to open the Stellarium program, I get a black sceen and after a couple of seconds Windows pops up with this message.....Stellarium.exe has stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution becomes available.

This is the same problem that was reported on 2010-01-20 by a JenMorris.

I believe the version I downloaded was 0.11.1. Stellarium is working fine on my two other computers, an XP desktop and a 32 bit Windows 7 notebook.

A confusion factor ..... after a few weeks of not working, yesterday, for the first time, it worked fine. I opened and closed it a couple of times and it worked perfectly. Today I tried it and it's back to it's non-working state!

Please, please help!

I have not received any help on this problem as yet. The computer works well with other programs and does not seem to have any hardware problems or any other software problems.

I guess I will have to wait for a newer version and try it again.

I certainly would appreciate some ideas from those more computer savvy than I.

Thank you, R Chabot
