can not find config.ini file

Asked by Alfredo Arrache Vértiz

I downloaded Stellarium -0.11.1-Universal.dmg on my iMac

I need to modify the configuration file "config.ini", in order to adapt warping to my particular dome size and geometry. But I can not find it.

Stellarium User Guide. Matthew Gates. 11th March 2009, mention the following:

"USER DIRECTORY: This is the Library/Preferences/Stellarium/sub-directory of the users home directory."

But I do not find the configuration file in the user directory, and it is not automatically created when Stellarium is run for the first time.

Also, I can not run Stellarium, via the command line, in order to instruct the program to run with an specific "config.ini" with an instruction similar to:

stellarium --config-file=configuration_one.ini
or
stellarium -c configuration_one.ini

Can you help me, telling me how to run Stellarium via command line?

Thanks, in advance.

Did you change your settings to make visible hidden and/or system files?

Can you look at Stellarium's log? It's in the Help window (press F1), in the Log tab. The path to the currently used log file is written on the line beginning with "Config file is", after the lines that list the file search paths.

For launching Stellarium from the command line, open the Terminal application. I think you need to use commands like that:

/Applications/Stellarium.app --config-file=configuration_one.ini

Reference: Stellarium Questions Question #184422, 2012-01-11

Thank you for the answers to my question.
I receive answers from Alexander Wolf, and from Bogdan Marinov on 2012-01-12.

But, yet, I am not able to locate the config file.

There is no Library carpet under users/arrachev/
.
How can I make visible hidden and/or system files? I looked in System Preferences and in Finder preferences with no results.

As suggested, I looked at Stellarium's log, and I found the following line:

Config file is: "/Users/Arrachev/Library/Application Support/Stellarium/config.ini"

But there is no Library carpet on /Users/Arrachev/

I need some more help. Thank you in advance

Hold down the Option key and open the "Go" menu in Finder. The "Library" directory should be now listed in it.
