Install failed, tried 3 times, same issue

Asked by Bruce Donsker

I successfully installed Stellarium on my iMac with OS-X 10.6.7

I then attempted to install on my portable mac with version 10.6.6. This worked great for about 5 minutes and then everything locked up while moving across the sky. This happened repeatable so I deinstalled. Now in attempting to reinstall, I get a messaged that the install failed during download.. Aganin, I tried this a few times
Any ideas?

Thanks!

What URL did you try to download from, and how? DId you right-click and select save as (please do not - the link is a redirect page).

I used the Mac OX download option at the http://www.stellarium.org/ home page. I let the download finish and then just dragged it in to applications. I did this successfully on my iMac and the same thing on the portable. Both worked and still working on the iMac and locking up after a few minutes on the portable :)

Strange, I use Stellarium on OSX 10.6.7 without any problems. Do you can show log.txt file from laptop?

Thank you so much.
A computer friend of mine thinks there is something from the first try interfering with then new download attempts. He is going to clear this all out for me tomorrow so hopefully this should take care of the problem.
Thanks so much for the help. This program is incredible! I am going to have so much fun with this and my 6 year old Grandson!

How big is the downloaded file. I ask because many people right- (or on OSX, command-) click the link on the main page and select "save as" from the context menu. However the link is actually to a mirror re-direction page, so that gets saved instead of the actual download. It's an annoyance at how the sourceforge download service works, but we really can't complain - they shift enormous volumes of data for us for free.

Make sure you left-click and wait for the redirector page to choose a mirror for you.

Assuming the actual download worked OK, I'm not sure - do you get an error message? So any windows open - do you see the splash screen for example?
