Stellarium won't install in Windows 7?

Asked by Wes Wood

Hi, I dl'd stellarium twice (latest build, I forget the numbers), but both times when trying to install I get a message saying the installation files are corrupted. I tried running the exe as administrator, and troubleshot compatibility. Microsoft said it is an incompatible application.

I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 64.

Thanks.

Two short questions:

1. Where did you download from?
2. How big was the installer once it was downloaded?

The most common problem people have with downloading is that the download page is in fact a re-direct to one of the sourceforge mirror sites, which means if you right-click and select download on the link on the stellarium.org web page, what you actually download is the mirror re-direct web page... you should left-click this link, and allow the re-direct to happen.

Oh, also note that there is no 64-bit version. I'm not familiar with the 64-bit window releases so I don't know if they are able to run 32-bit binaries.

Hmmmm...interesting. I downloaded again from the sourceforge download page, only this time I clicked the link that said "direct link". Download was 43.5 Mb. Installed with no problems this time.
