function keys not working

following installation on to my HP laptop running XP the program starts up but can not do anything with it because the functions keys do not respond to mouse highlight & click or pressing of function keys... please help, cheers

If the keys are not working, that is not going to be Stellarium. Neither Stellarium nor Qt have anything to do with keyboard drivers.

Many keyboards these days have their function keys actually mapped as multimedia keys (volume up/down, play etc), and you have to press the "Fn" button together with the key to get the original F1 F2 and so on.

Can you help with this problem?
