Was a log file created? If so, please attach it. If not, was any error message displayed?

Log file is in the User Data Directory (How to find User Data Directory for your OS read here: http://www.stellarium.org/doc/head/fileStructure.html) and his name is "log.txt"

10.6 was running so slow and stuttered, it was hard to make it work.

I uninstalled it, loaded 10.5 as matthew said and now it will not run !

Do you trying reinstall Stellarium 0.10.6?

P.S. Apparently something has changed in the configuration of your PC - you do not remove anyone software before problems with Stellarium?

If i reinstall 10.6, it will be so slow again.

Alexander, I believe the crash of 10.5 is caused by the stellarium folder created by 10.6. It seems that the files created by 10.6 in C:\Users\Andy\AppData\Roaming\Stellarium are not backward compatible with 10.5. This happened in my vista system when I tried to run 10.5 after I installed 10.6.

I believe if Andy can delete the folder C:\Users\Andy\AppData\Roaming\Stellarium 10.5 will run.

Andy try this:
- open any folder
- overwrite the folder name (at the top of the window) by pasting: C:\Users\Andy\AppData\Roaming
but change Andy to your window user
- delete Stellarium folder

Regarding the 0.10.5 version not starting, I think kajaji is correct. Specifically the satellites.json file from 0.10.6 causes a crash when used with version 0.10.5.

Deleting the user data directory should solve this.

However, if 0.10.6 is running very slowly (what is the FPS btw?), I don't think 0.10.5 is going to be any better. Very bad performance is almost always caused by no OpenGL acceleration in the video drivers. When this is the case, the OS does work on the CPU which would otherwise be done in hardware in the GPU... the effect is usually something like a frame rate of 3 on good hardware, and often much less (e.g. 0.02 fps with less powerful CPUs).

In short:

1. Delete the user data directory if you really want to try 0.10.5
2. Find out 0.10.5 runs slow as well- update your video driver from the manufacturer's website.

In my experience there's no point in using Microsoft update to get drivers - they are usually very out of date. Also, going to the machine vendor (e.g. Dell) is not very useful - the Dell (or equivalent) website drivers are often just as out of date as MS update.

You must go directly to the manufacturer of the video card (i.e. ATI/AMD/NVidia/Intel). Even then you sometimes find there is not fully working OpenGL driver. In that case you're out of luck - complain to the video card maker and/or replace your hardware.

Thanks all

Like I said above, this sounds like a video driver problem. Please try getting updated drivers from the video card manufacturer's website.

Can you help with this problem?
