Viewing problem

Asked by Andy

I am so sorry to bother you all and i am not that ' clued ' up on computers so please bear with me ?

I have downloaded Stellarium and 85 % of the planet names, text writing etc is goobledygook.
I cannot read hardly anything at all.
I am sure this has been asked but if someone has a link that makes it clear, i would be ever so grateful indeed.
My pc is windows vista if that is any good ?

many thanks
kindest regards

Hi Andy,

This is typically a graphics driver issue. I'll spare you the details. Here's a couple of things which fix such problems for some people (no guarantees).

First thing to try: run using the "Stellarium (no OpenGL2)" option. This was introduced in version 0.10.5 and fixes problems for some people.

Second thing to try: update your video card drivers to the lastest version from the manufacturer's website. You might need to get some help from a nerdy friend with this. :D

Matthew means the "Stellarium (no OpenGL2)" shortcut in Stellarium's Start menu folder.

I'm not sure what exactly is the structure of the Start menu on Vista. It should be something like:
Start Manu -> Programs -> Stellarium -> Stellarium (no OpenGL2)
