Stellarium crashes

Asked by Peter Mueller

I bought a CD with Stellarium 0-10-0. When installing it on my laptop (Windows XP) it does not work. When I try to start it the small black screen pops up for a moment and then I get an error message that Stellarium has encountered a problem and needs to close. Unfortunately, that i all I cn report. There are no other obvious things happen before or after. The only thing that struck me as odd was that on the CD the exe-file is named as 0-10-0 BETA.

"I bought a CD with Stellarium 0-10-0."

Do you know that Stellarium can be downloaded for free? From its project page in SourceForge, for example:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/stellarium/

"The only thing that struck me as odd was that on the CD the exe-file is named as 0-10-0 BETA."
Indeed, 0.10.0 was a beta version. It's quite old. The latest one is 0.10.5. You can download it from the link above and report if it works.

It is possible that your computer's graphics card does not support OpenGL. You may want to look up your graphics card's model and check the information available for it on the manufacturer's website. Also, make sure that its drivers are up-to-date.

Hi Peter.

Please do download and try the latest release. If there is still a problem, please attach the log.txt file to this bug report.

Might I also enquire where you purchased the CD from, and exactly what is on the CD?

Can you help with this problem?

Provide an answer of your own, or ask Peter Mueller for more information if necessary.
