How to install star's updates once installing stellarium in a differnt pc with out internet?

Asked by void

lets say I install stellarium on a friends computer windows 7. but he dosent have internet so he cant download the star catalogs directly from the internet.
But I happen to have to all the star catalog files already saved In a USB memory stick.

how do I go about installing the star catalog updates and make sure that the stellarium application picks up the updates.

Do I simply make a directory thats the same as the one I previously had the star updates in?

for example. on My os, the star update files are located in
C:/user/jason/appdata/roaming/stellarium/stars/default.

Do I need to create that very same directory on my friends computer so that his stellarium application can pick up( recognize) the updates?

or do I go about a different way?

Yes, the last version of Stellarium (0.10.5) can recognise the catalogues if you simply put them in the appropriate folder.

As far as I know, the user folders are located in the same place in Windows 7 as in Windows Vista, so the path you propose should be OK. The user name in the path will be a different one, of course.

The parent directory ("Stellarium") is the same one where Stellarium's configuration file and log file are located (after the firs run). Inside it, there should be a "stars" directory, and inside that, a "default" directory. If necessary, you can create them.

Can you help with this problem?
