Relation between Alt displayed by Stellarium and Apparent Altitude

Asked by f(fanta)

Hi. When I select a celestial body, Stelarium displays some data about it in the upper left corner, including an Altitude (Alt). Is that the apparent altitude of the body (subject to atmospheric refraction) or is it the true sextant angle? Thanks!

As of version 0.10.4, Stellarium does not model atmospheric refraction. So I think it's the "true" angle.

Refraction is in the works for some future version, but I don't know if it will affect only the picture that is displayed on the screen, or both the picture and the Altitude value. If it affects the coordinates, I will ask for separate fields for apparent and true values.

Can you help with this problem?
