very slow responding User Interface

Asked by kent tolley

All the UI is slow on my machine with Windows XP.
For instance I wanted Los Angeles to be my default location.
I tried scrolling the menu with locations. If I put my mouse on the little square and moved it up or down it moved past my desired location. On the other hand if I put my mouse on the up or down arrows you provide to get to Los Angeles it took me forever to get to Los Angeles.

Nothing is more irritating than a slow UI or one that is difficult to use. Yours is both.
I have worked in computer field my whole life. I helped design, write and check out software for the Space Shuttle so I'm used to designing user-friendly interfaces. I cannot figure out why yours is so hard to use. It makes it not worth all the difficulty of getting the software to respond in a timely manner.

Any suggestions?

In the current version of Stellarium, 0.10.4, there's a text input for searching right under the list of locations. There's a small icon of a looking glass next to it, and a blinking cursor in it when the Locations window is open. Just start typing "Los Angeles" in it.

If you are not using Stellarium 0.10.4, please provide more information about the version you are using.

Does "all the UI is slow" mean that windows and the tool bars are slow to appear? What FPS (frames per second) value is displayed in the bottom bar?

Can you help with this problem?
