Can't access constellation art?

Asked by Cathleena

Hi Stellarium users,

I'm struggling to find the constellation art feature in the new 10.4 for Mac release of Stellarium.

5.9 of the userguide lists the /constellationart folder as the location of these files, but this directory was not installed when I launched Stellarium from the dmg.

Can so one please point me in the right direction of where this folder is, and how I can invoke the change of sky cultures within the program? The only option I can find is the simple 'R' command to view the constellation art, but this shows only the good old Greco-Roman.

Cheers,

Cathleena

To change the constellation art, open the "Sky and viewing options" window - either from its button in the vertical toolbar or by pressing the F4 key. Sky cultures are listed in the "Starlore" tab.

I think that the folder is called "skycultures". The information in the manual is outdated (it's for version 0.10.2, but it wasn't properly updated for it, too.)

I found the 'Starlore' tab and changed between the cultures but I am still unable to get any constellation art for anything other than the 'Western' sky culture. Does constellation art exist for the other sky cultures? If so, how do I access it?

Not all of Stellarium's sky cultures have existing constellation art. The Western culture is the only one that has a large number of images. The only two others that have illustrations at the moment are the Aztec and the Inuit, but both have fewer constellations than the Western.

Can you help with this problem?
