Limit Labels by Magnitude

Asked by starmag

In earlier (pre 10.0) versions of Stellarium it was possible to only display labels for objects up to a certain magnitude by using the "Star names up to mag" control in the options menu. For example if I only wanted to see names for objects brighter than mag. 4, I set it to 4 and Stellarium would only display names for objects having an apparent magnitude brighter than 4. I have not been able to duplicate this functionality in the newest version and was wondering if there was a way to do this.

Try this:
- Open the "Sky and Viewing Options" window from the side bar or through key F4
- In the Sky tab look for the box "Labels and Markers"
- Check the small box for Stars
- Now slide the button to the right and star labels will start to show more as you move more to the right
- The leftmost position is magnitude -2, and if you want for example, labels up to magnitude 3 then clickk to the left of slider button, each click will add 1. So for Mag 3 you do 6 clicks.

I noticed that if you click far to the right the button will not move!

Hope this is helpful.
It would be nice to have mag marks on the slide line.
