Text too small on HiDPI (4k) screens

If you are in the lucky (?) one percent or so (https://www.netmarketshare.com/report.aspx?qprid=17) to have a High DPI screen (larger than 1920x1200, e.g. 2560x1440, 4k or similar), you may find the GUI panels and fonts are too small.

Alexander has given a workaround as early as 2015 which still works as of May 2017.
You can try set environment variable QT_DEVICE_PIXEL_RATIO=2.

You can also try to just increase base font size. See the User Guide, section D.1.8. (D.1.9 for V0.16 Guide.)

The currently 3 active developers (who BTW have a daytime occupation) do not have access to a 4k screen to test anything in this area.

We received another anonymous hint with a solution (untested by us) that may work at least on Windows:

More info: http://doc.qt.io/qt-5/highdpi.html

The solution has been built into 0.14.1. We have received complaints that the issue has reappeared in the 0.15 series. Current Beta (9223, after 0.15.2) has been reported to have it solved again.

Permanent solutions, patches, donations of 4k hardware (4k TV and esp. 4k MacBook), or further helpful hints by those with access to 4k hardware welcome!
