Why OpenSSL rather than CDSA?

Asked by James W. Walker

I'm just curious why you use OpenSSL rather than CDSA for the digital signature stuff? I don't know much about security programming, but Apple recommends using CDSA rather than OpenSSL here: <http://developer.apple.com/security/cdsaopenssl.html>

I'd say bug # 243850 is your answer.

Not exactly. If code signing were used in 10.5, and 10.4 were no longer supported, it might make my question moot, but that's not the same as answering it.

Good point. I've made a note on CDSA for use in 10.4 in the bug. I'll be sure to investigate it when I fix that bug. Which... will probably be many months from now, unfortunately.
