secure hosting for private beta testing

Hi, I read in a previous post that 1.5 will include a way to support simple http/https authentication for private beta testing / releases. Is this true? Does sparkle have anything like this yet?

My team is working on a beta version and would like to include an updater, but we don't want to make the URL public for everyone to access... only our testers.
