Ubuntu 17.10: how do I convert to AAC format?

Asked by Jay Viper

So I'm trying to convert to AAC format since I'm having issues when converting to MP3 (all tags are gone on the output files).

According to the frontpage of the project, AAC encoding should be supported. But when I opened up Preferences and I cannot find AAC on the output format selection.

I have the following gsreamer plugins installed:

1. gstreamer1.0-plugins-bad
2. gstreamer1.0-plugins-base
3. gstreamer1.0-plugins-base-apps
4. gstreamer1.0-plugins-good
5. gstreamer1.0-plugins-ugly

I have rebooted the machine and same results. I installed soundconverter from official Ubuntu repo.

Any ideas what I could be missing? Thanks

It should be within "bad" plugins, but it is not.

Thank you.

Any chance you can move sound converted to use faac or other open sourced equivalent?

Can you help with this problem?
