Update Sound Convertor

I am running Ubuntu 14.04.5 LTS and have downloaded and installed v 2.0.4 of Sound Converter. However it occasionally crashes when converting M4A files to MP3.

I noticed that there is a later build 2.1.6 available but this doesn't appear in Ubuntu Software Centre. When I run
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install soundconverter

from command line it says the latest version is installed. Am I doing something wrong and if so what are the correct commands to update to the latest stable version
