Datestamp not updating

When I convert files the Date/Timestamp for the'Date Created' field is unchanged in the converted file eg Track1.wav (24 May 2011) becomes Track1.mp3 (24 May 2011). I would expect Track1.mp3 (today's date & time).

Have checked on conversions wav > ogg; wav > mp3; mp3 > wav; mp3 > ogg

I think this was different in previous versions i.e newly created files had a new timestamp.

v2.9.0-beta1 9or in Software Manager listed as 3.0.0~alpha1+git20151209-1)
Linux Mint 18.1
