help dealing with dependencies and conflicts in Slackware

After wrestling with a lot of dependency conflicts and getting past them, I'm stuck (in the terminal) at:

XXXXXXXXX:~# soundconverter
SoundConverter 2.1.4
ImportError: could not import bonobo.ui
SoundConverter needs pygtk and gnome-python >= 2.24! (Error: "/usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages/gtk-2.0/gconf.so: undefined symbol: PyUnicodeUCS4_AsUTF8String")

I do have libbonoboui installed; it was a block that I actually got past already but now it throws it up again for some reason. Tried a few solutions given for unrelated programs, none of them worked.

I use SoundConverter consistently in Ubuntu, but the tangle of getting it to work on Slackware (LXDE) is intense :/
