How to Convert Audible .AA files

I was a member of Audio for many years and purchased several hundred dollars of their audio books. Now I am using Mint Unix and cannot play these because their Audible Manager runs only under windows. Can I rename the .AA files or can the developers consider adding this DRM proprietary format?
