problem in installation

Asked by koushik

When I open the application, the bar showing File/Edit/Help is not opening. As a result I can not chose the destination of the converted file, or, the nature of conversion I would like, or, the quality of the sound etc. Please help.

What distribution are you using? If it's a recent Ubuntu with the Unity shell, you have to click the SoundConverter window to select it, and you have to move the mouse to the top left of the screen for the menu to show up.
They try to be smart, but fail badly...

Sorry, no Menu is showing up when I moved my mouse on the left top corner of the SC window.
Incidentally, I have recently installed UBUNTU 11.10 version(OS-32 bit)-and the problem cropped up since then. Earlier, when there was 10.10 version , it worked smoothly.

You have to move the mouse to the top left corner of the screen, not the SC window.

GautierPortet suggests this article as an answer to your question:
FAQ #1829: “Missing menu in Ubuntu Unity”.

Sorry, Mr. GautierPortet,
You have certainly not provided any solution to the problem I am facing - but only reproduced the question that was asked by me. Please help to solve the riddle. Otherwise the great 'Soundconverter' would remain useless to the users of UBUNTU 11.10 version(OS-32 bit)- a stark reality.
