Any plan to use software formats only for ubuntu?

Asked by Ahmed

Is there any plan to user special software format only for ubuntu different from .deb package format to simplify installation process and get rid of the dependencies hell , like for example the .dmg format in Mac OS?

Don't you think that we already have a lot of problem with the different package manager formats (DEB, RPM, .pkg.tar.gz, source code, ebuilds/pkgbuilds, etc) to make yet another one?! Also the DEB format is powerful enough to come with al the dependences. It IS possible, but if you have a repository, why to download shared libs again and again and again? Also using deb format facilitates the synchronization with Debian. I'm not a developer, but I don't see this going to happen.
