Ubuntu Software Center is still broken in Ubuntu 12.10 at 13.00 on 29 August 2012

Asked by Charles Norrie

It is still broken. I updated 12.10 just after midnight on 29 August 2012. I learnt that USC had been repaired. I tried to use it to install Google Chrome, but that did not work. And clicking on the icon on the strip on the LHS starts USC butharles norrie it breaks down and Force Quit is nedded to get out.

So no output messages, I'm sorry but USC is still broken.

Hello Charles, and thank you for your comment. Please update to the latest version of Software Center in Quantal as this will hopefully fix the issue. The latest version fixes a crash on startup when using a language that requires unicode.

If you still have problems after updating, please respond here and I will help you to track down the issue.

Many thanks, and best regards,
Gary
