In using USC in 11.10 ubuntu i couldnt find the xubuntu-desktop package or other xfce packages.

You will find it in synaptic.In 11.10 synaptic is not installed by default so

sudo apt-get install synaptic

Sorry for partial answer.Type in USC xubuntu-desktop and see if you get any result.

xubuntu desktop package is listed in synaptic package manager. go to synaptic package manager and search for "xubuntu-desktop" It will install xubuntu interface along with some tools.
