how to sell software via Ubuntu Software Center?

Asked by Stefan Donhauser

Hello,

we are developing and distributing our commercial TurboPrint printer drivers with true color management and further utilities like printer status monitor, print preview, etc. We are interested in selling the software via the Ubuntu Software Center. Is this possible and how does it work? Who should we contact? More about TurboPrint at www.turboprint.info.

Regards,

I don't have an answer but I have the suggestion that there should be a "Developer's section" on ubuntu.com with a guide like this (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PackagingGuide/Complete), a how-to for submitting open-source or paid apps and maybe even a simple introduction into developing for Ubuntu.

Having something like Apple's Developer Program (http://developer.apple.com/programs/mac/) would make Ubuntu and Linux in general more attractive to develop for.

Feedback would be very appreciated

Alex

OK I just discovered http://developer.ubuntu.com/ which is still under development, so hopefully there will be a link at the main site soon.

You would need to go to http://developer.ubuntu.com/publish/, but it isn't ready yet.

Hope that helped

Alex

Is there a road map for this anywhere? (Or rough outline, a hint maybe?)
