Sugar on stick doesn't save anything?

Asked by diego

I have a problem. Whenever I reboot/boot my laptop with sugar on a stick I have to re enter my name and color and my journal is cleared! Is this OK or something is going wrong? I understood sugar on a stick allowed me to save work... Thanks for any help

The usual cause of this problem is that you forgot to add "persistent storage" when you made the stick. If you used the Fedora LiveUSB creator (http://fedorahosted.org/liveusb-creator/), note that there is a slider on the right side of the window for indicating how much persistent storage to include. If you neglected to adjust the slider, you will end up with no place to save data between sessions. (I wonder why they make the default value zero?) The "remedy" is to reburn the stick with persistent storage.

If you used the GNU/Linux script to create your stick, be sure to use the --overlay-size-mb and --home-size-mb flags, e.g.:

sudo ./livecd-iso-to-disk.sh --overlay-size-mb 300 --home-size-mb 160 --delete-home --unencrypted-home soas-strawberry.iso /dev/sdb1
