What formats and what dependencies?

Asked by rogue_ronin

Hey there,

I've installed this on my Xubuntu 8.04 machine, and the script comes up okay (although I had to install xdg-user-dirs and run it as Xubuntu doesn't use the .desktop settings apparently.)

But it didn't work on my .ape files. Should it? I cannot find any listing of what SnakeBite can specifically convert. Would you be willing to include .ape files?

Do I need to install anything in particular to improve what SnakeBite can do? (Right now, it isn't doing much. :) )

Thanks,

First of all, thanks for your note about Xubuntu not installing xdg-user-dirs by default. I added the dependency to pyawesome, so this will be fixed in the SnakeBite/pyawesome 0.1.2 release.

SnakeBite can convert any audio format that gstreamer can decode. I'm personally not familiar with .ape and don't know if gstreamer supports it, but running this command should give you everything gstreamer supports:

sudo apt-get install gstreamer0.10-plugins-good gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly-multiverse gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad-multiverse gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg

Can you help with this problem?
