why isn't slingshot triggered with just the super button

Asked by Suraj Patil

Slingshot is having a hardware key trigger of super + spacebar, it should rather be simply super key

It should be possible to change this in the options but isn't.

I would love this to be the default, too.

Friend of mine gave eOS a try. One of the things he didn't like was the super+space shortcut. :/

Hey everybody,

You shoud be able to add a custom key combination in the keyboard plug in system settings.
If you don't know how or it doesn't provide the solution?
here are some other solutions you could try to add the key combination or one key you like.

If the provided solutions aren't what you looking for please contact again.
Have a nice day and thanks you for using elementary :)

You can actually assign it to super+ctrl+space bar, it won't conflict with
most applications.

"super" does not conflict with any application either as "super" is considered a system key. Only the system should care about it.

I think most people requesting this (here and in the referenced bug), are accustomed to the single "super" key to open up the Start menu or the Launcher menu. I don't see a reason to change that especially because eOS got negative feedback because of this. :(

I think we should have just the "super" shortcut since it is simple enough,
windows has had this shortcut for 30 years and nobody got confused between
super and super+D which is for seeing the desktop!!
