Application List

Asked by Mattia Buscema

Hi, i noticed not all installed application are displayed in slingshot (even when searched) so i was wondering how it manages application list so i can manually add them to the list. Moreover, i think it could be useful to add an application (as a slingshot plugin?) to do this job with a graphical interface.
Thank you in advance.

You can modify the application list with alacarte

ok, i can change it using alacarte but i need to know exactly what files slinghshot uses; alacarte has 103 packages as dependencies and i'd like to avoid to install it.

Is this the same problem as bug 1059057 ?

What kind of installation are not shown? The only ones which are not shown are (or at least, should be) those which don't have Pantheon in OnlyShowIn, like gnome-tweak-tool (although I reported it as bug and they fixed it, hasn't been released yet though). For those one we still are looking for a solution. On the other hand, if the .desktop file (usually located in /usr/share/applications) does not have any limitation and Slingshot still doesn't show it, that's a bug, I'd suggest you report it.

So, if you want them to show up, go to /usr/share/applications and modify their .desktop files removing the OnlyShowIn line.
