No Scanners detected error on Xerox PE16 AIO USB connection

Asked by RandyJ

I have a Xerox PE16 Multifunction USB device. It is Twain compliant. It prints fine on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS. Simple Scan returns the error "No scanners detected".
I ran sane find scanner and it didn't find it.
Any assistance would be appreciated.

Please provide the output of the following diagnostic commands (with the device connected and switched on):

uname -a
lsb_release -crid
lsusb
sudo sane-find-scanner

According to http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=980804 installing the driver for Samsung SCX-4216F might help.

By the way, the links provided are dead. I searched and found the Samsung web site but no Unix related drivers for the noted Samsung device. Thanks,

Thanks but those instructions are for a LAN based scanner. As stated in my original problem description, this is a USB attached multifunction device.

Independent from the way that the scanner is connected, you need the correct driver for it.

Can you help with this problem?
