Simple scan does not locate AIO scanner

Asked by Ronald Poulin

Simple scan does not locate all in one scanner HP Officejet Pro L7580. Printer works fine but simple scan doesn't find the scanner. Is there a way I can force simple scan to an IP address or domain name manually?

Was working under Ubuntu/Unity 12.04 but does not work under Mint/cinnamon 13. Any clues would be appreciated!

Hi,

thanks for getting back to me. Re-reading my message, I meant to indicate that the scanner in question is an aio connected on my home network and not a directly connected to my computer. I mentioned ip address /domain name but I was not specific in my question.

I ran the command you indicated and received the following result.

No scanners were identified. If you were expecting something different,
check that the scanner is plugged in, turned on and detected by the
sane-find-scanner tool (if appropriate). Please read the documentation
which came with this software (README, FAQ, manpages).

Unfortunately, there's no easy way to use scanner connected to network.
First of all, you should test scanner with directly connected computer.
If it works, you have to configure SANE server and client.

thank you. I appreciate the feedback. I read the bug report and decided to locally attach my scanner when I need to use it. Thank you!.
