Feature request: Hardware button

Asked by Daniel Kraus

Hi,

Simple Scan is a wonderful tool. One thing that I miss though is the ability to use the hardware scan button.

If it is not possible/feasible to implement such functionality in Simple Scan, it would great if there was a command line option to initiate a page scan in an already running instance of Simple Scan. Then one could use a shell script which is invoked by simplescand and which calls Simple Scan to scan a page.

But that's discussing another feature entirely.

I find it very difficult to use SimpleScan. It just makes my hands and arms ache after the first few pages. I have tried many different computer and scanner positions without success. I don't know what's causing the problem, but I do wonder if being able to use the button on the printer-scanner instead of the button in the software menu might work better.

sorry for mixing up these issues. as far as i know there is no support for scanning another page whenever a hardware button is pressed with simple scan. feel free to create a new ticket asking for such functionality.

possibly xsane already supports this, but i do not really know. it might be worth to check that.

Can you help with this problem?
